Licensing Requirements
To become a licensed cosmetology instructor in Illinois, the state requires one of the following:
• Completion of 500 hours of instructor training and at least 2 years of licensed cosmetology experience
After completing the required training hours, graduates must apply through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) and pass the required instructor licensing examination.
Our program prepares students for this next step.
Admissions Requirements
Applicants must:
• Hold a current Illinois Cosmetology License
• Have 2 years professional experience in the field
• Provide proof of licensure in good standing
• Complete an admissions consultation
Our instructor program is intentionally small.
Each applicant meets personally with the school owner and senior educators so we can learn more about your experience, your goals, and your interest in teaching.
We look for professionals who are ready to mentor the next generation of artists and contribute to the culture of our school.
Because of the hands-on nature of the program, spaces are limited.
